Strategic Focus

GeoLimna is an academic research group whose main activities relate to teaching, research and academic extension. The group addresses its objects of study through the perspective of the disciplines of Geography and Limnology in order to understand and solve environmental problems, especially those associated with hydric resources. On the basis of the spacialization and geographical interrelationships that it allows us to discover and the further modeling of hydric resources, we seek for these resources to be used and exploited in a sustainable manner.

  • Bioprospection of The San Lorenzo, Guarinó, and Cocorná Rivers, in the Municipality of El Carmen de Viboral, Antioquia.
  • Environmental Management Plan of the Parque Norte Lake.
  • Designing hydro-sanitary networks in the Tulenapa site of Universidad de Antioquia in Carepa, Antioquia.
  • Several research projects have been developed in the Ayapel Swamp for 8 years Currently, the following are still in progress:
    1. Study of the riparian vegetation profile.
    2. Automatization of meteorological data capture and real-time remote transmission.
    3. Cartography for the layout of water transportation routes in the Ayapel Swamp System.
