Our facilities

Main campus

UdeA’s main campus is located in Medellín and was completed in the mid-sixties. It comprises approximately 287,000 square meters and a built area of 134,000 square meters including sidewalks, pedestrian paths and green spaces. It houses classrooms, labs, administrative buildings as well as the Museum, the University Theatre, the Library and a large sports complex. The campus also has a number of sculptures and murals by renowned artists including Francisco Cano, Jorge Cárdenas, Rodrigo Arenas, Salvador Arango, Enrique Grau, Eduardo Ramírez, Alonso Ríos, Eladio Vélez and Martha Villafañe, among others. On July 26, 2013, UdeA campus was declared a cultural asset of national interest.

Former Law School building

During the nineteenth century and early twentieth century the Law School gained national recognition due largely to its highly skilled faculty and well-trained graduates. In 1925, the School began operating in a newly acquired building designed by the Belgian architect Agustin Goovaerts. The opening of the new facility coincided with the 250th anniversary of the founding of Medellín, Antioquia’s capital city.

In the thirties, the building also housed the newly established School of Dentistry, and in the forties it also served as the headquarters for both the Museum of Antioquia and the School of Economics.

In the sixties, the School of Law moved to the main campus and the old building became the headquarters of a local high school. Years later, the University regained control of the old building, which was badly damaged, and in 2007, the Mayor of Medellín invested 7 billion pesos in its restoration. The revamped Law School Building will house both the University’s Language Center and the Confucius Institute, a Chinese public institution dedicated to Mandarin Chinese teaching.

This facility is located at Carrera 43 48-23, Medellín, Colombia.
