Strategic Focus

To conduct research in sexual health and cancer in different population groups: adolescents, women, victims of armed conflicts, indigenous people, and the HIV population under gender perspective, sexual rights, and educational strategies based on ICTs. Also, the group is aimed at developing research on cancers related to HPV infection: cervical, anal canal, oropharyngeal, and STIs, from the biomedical, epidemiological, public health, sociocultural, health services delivery, and PHC perspectives, with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention through qualitative and quantitative research methods.

  • The generation of knowledge in various papers related to the epidemiology of SIL and cervical cancer, perceptions of women and high school and university students about HPV infection, sexual practices, HPV-related cancers, self-care, and assessment of the quality of the cervical cancer programs that have allowed the orientation of policies, protocols, and manuals in the country.
  • The use of video games with implicit sexual content as a strategy for the sexual education of schoolchildren that gave guidelines to educational institutions to orient their educational projects.
  • The silence of the voices of female victims of sexual violence in the armed conflict and the affectation on their sexual health that contributes to health care policies in the peace process.
