Strategic Focus

The GRINMADE's mission is to generate useful scientific knowledge by promoting academic and human training in order to contribute to the solution of problems encountered in the community. GRINMADE contributes to the generation of knowledge in three areas: 1) prevention and treatment of chronic diseases through physical activity and exercise; 2) biomedical control of training; and 3) prevention and treatment of osteomuscular injuries related to the practice of physical activity, exercise and sport.

Research Areas and Topics

  • Physical activity and health.
  • High performance sports.
  • Sports trauma.

  • Relationship of chronological age and sexual maturity with skeletal maturity by magnetic resonance imaging of the distal radial epiphysis in adolescent football players.

Main Research Results

  • Assessment of the efficacy of high-intensity, low-volume interval training on insulin resistance, structure (muscle mass and fiber type composition) and endocrine function of skeletal muscle (musclin) in adults with metabolic syndrome.
  • Development of a method to estimate the area occupied by type II fibers in the vastus lateralis thigh muscle through proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy using a flexible antenna.
  • “Inverted U”shaped relationship of gluteus medius tendon microvascularization using CD4 markers on cadavers.
  • Application of magnetic resonance imaging of the distal radial epiphysis to assess skeletal maturity in adolescent soccer players.
